Office office

Last few days in office left. Only a couple more to be precise. Have been attending office only so that I am not marked absent. Come to office, check for not arrived new mails, read a few good morning and today's jokes mails, have a cup of disgusting Tea, read all possible news papers, chat with colleagues (at times against their wishes since they appear busy!) have lunch, have tea again to avoid falling asleep and then surf useless links maybe play games on cell phone then go to food court once again and pass time till it stops raining so that I can leave the office to go home. This is the current daily routine I have been following for the last couple of weeks.

Office is a depressing place for me these days more so after I told them that I do not wish to continue working here. I tried to collect work related articles, new work place details and also prepared for the new work place experience going through blogs. But after a week ran out of steam and did not find it interesting enough. I guess I am sinking into laziness serving the notice period.

Office is a place to go and spend 8 hours of the day so that I am not asked to help around in house work. Also I get to sit in air conditioned seat where no one questions what I am doing. Though this sounds great it actually does not have any advantages and I get bored every other hour. To add to the trouble is that in my Office the PC I use controls what I get to see and surf even if I have to open my own files saved on the hard drive.

One year on

It's been two years since I created the first entry here. Lots of things have changed but a few have remained the same. I have since moved on from a good team and a good work place to another good team.

All ex-collegues have moved on to different organizations. Few have managed to get drowned in loads of work while others have managed to swim and get promoted to the next level. Few have moved on to different continents but still manage to stay in touch. The touch does not happen regularly though on occassions of good news the one with the news calls at least one person ensuring the old team knows everything.

Within the last year all the bachlors have been domesticated, all DINKs converted atleast to DISKs and the remaining are happy that all share almost the same fate now. This is good enough to keep returning to make note of the events. I do not need to wait another year to add another post.

Friday today!!

Friday today! What more can I say??

This is the Friday scene in my team - my offshore lead is on a week long holiday, onsite contact on long weekend leave. Client manager does not seem to be in office since there have been no mails from him for the last couple of days nor was he in the weekly status meeting just yesterday.

Couple of my team members are seriously working on execution of automation tests and reviewing the results, one colleague has finished the task assigned (lucky!!) and has already begun the weekend... remaining team members are also working, from where that is a mystery since they are not to be seen on their designated work stations. One senior member is leaving the team soon and there are discussions of party for seeing him off but the team does not seem to be agreeing on the venue.

I got a mail from another senior person that it is his last day in the organisation! All more I want the day to end soon and the party to begin. Party is for the 2 people who are moving on, unfortunately for us. (I do not know who is lucky here, us or them!)

Then I get a call from onsite contact that he is in office if needed as he has cancelled his holiday! I turn around and find all the team seriously working despite it being Friday!

Maybe they have lost all hope!!
